Mitigating Linear Risks

This report examines the current landscape of linear risks and explores opportunities for risk mitigation through the lens of the circular economy, building on a first version of a linear risks paper published by Circle Economy in 2018 titled ‘Linear Risks’: How Business As Usual Is A Threat To Companies And Investors.

To inform our updated analysis, we interviewed senior employees from predominantly linear companies and experts in circular economy practices to hear about the most pressing risks faced today. Their insights—in combination with Circle Economy’s extensive experience working with businesses— have shaped the findings and recommendations presented here.
